The Organizer: Zeke and Shirley Farrell
Lobby Checking in and meeting up.
Why we're here: Old friends reunite.
The Sunspree was under destruction again!
Settling our stomachs for the first evening cruise.
Spirit of Norfolk, our first-evening dinner cruise ship.
Chow lines aboard Spirit.
Al and Dian after dinner and some suds.
Party nuked fallout on some of us. OK, one of us.
Harry Warren organized our transportation. His friend Mary was a welcome addition to our group.
Gribble, Gus and Yogi look satisfied after dinner.
Same for Bev and Chuck Runyon.
Charles and Clara Workman. Charles was on the decommissioning crew and had the distinction of being the last enlisted man to leave Cubera.
Judy and Walt Joyce, also on the decommissioning crew, had great stories to tell.
Tom Hutto was aboard in the 1950s, and appears to have made a hit with the ladies in another dinner group. Where's Lavonia, Tom?
Saturday, Navy Master Chief Garrison brought us up to date on today's Navy.
Then we mobbed the sub pier, descending on...
... the USS BOISE (SSN 764). Notice the jack - a "Don't tread on me!" original Navy jack.
Some of us took a peek through the periscope while our gracious crew tour guides gave interesting explanations of the equipment and operating procedures.
Prepared to depart on maneuvers, the BOISE had food cans stored similarly to the way we used to do it.
Passageways resemble the old boats.
I've GOT to get me one o' these!
Charlie Weaver and I observe that there's not a lot of deck on Los Angeles Class boats!
